The Media Education Center (MEC) is an initiative launched by the Institute for Community PartnershipBethlehem University in June 2008 to invest its resources for the benefit of the Palestinian teachers, students, parents and media professionals by providing them with knowledge and training in the field of media education.

Since its establishment, the ICP has been concerned for developing the entire Palestinian community through identifying emerging needs and providing opportunities for further education among many other responsibilities. Since 2003, Bethlehem University and the ICP have made tremendous efforts to develop and enhance media education and literacy in Palestine like developing a finely equipped Digital Media Center located at Bethlehem University, organizing training courses in citizen media skills aiming at media literacy and other activities in media education. All of these efforts led to the establishment of the MEC which is foreseen to become a leading center for media education in Palestine.

"Media have become part and parcel of the upbringing and socialization processes of all girls and boys and therefore need to be considered by parents, educators, and media professionals as seriously as formal education."
